Use Conjuror to quickly customize Scratch projects in the Scratch Encore curriculum

Who: Any teachers who teach Scratch coding in any of 4th-8th grade. Districts must allow you to use Scratch in your classroom and participate in research.

WhatLearn how to use Conjuror to:

  • Integrate CS with Social Studies, Science or ELA

  • Customize school, community, or student interests

  • Co-Create with your students 

Compensation$1500 for completing PD + research study

Study Requirements

  • Attend 5-Day PD for new Scratch Encore teachers, 2-Day PD for experienced SE teachers 

  • Customize and share the materials for 2 projects

  • Teach a customized project

  • Interview after PD and after the customized project is taught 

  • Provide links to public Scratch classroom

Why Scratch Encore?

  • G4-8 Scratch curriculum organized into 15 modules, of 2-3 lessons each, to be completed across multiple school years.

  • All materials and PD are free of charge.

  • A variety of activities that teachers can choose from based on topics that are engaging for their students.

  • Complete lesson plans - discussion prompts, reflections, extension ideas, assessments, and an automated project checker (for students) and classroom checker (for teachers).

  • Uses research-based pedagogical approaches, including the Use->Modify->Create learning sequence for each content area and TIPP&SEE, a learning strategy developed by our lab to help students learn from example Scratch projects.

 

Professional Development Details:

If you have never attended a Scratch Encore PD:

July 28 - August 1 (5 days)​

If you previously attended a Scratch Encore PD:

July 31 - August 1 (2 days)

  • Synchronous Zoom sessions with frequent breakout group activities

  • 10am-4pm Central time w/ lunch breaks

Completion Certifications will be provided. Please check with your school district to see if this certificate can be submitted for PD credits.
